Organizing Your PDF

After you've uploaded your Content, MAZ will need to process it. You will be notified by email when it has finished. This can take up to 24 hours, but usually only takes an hour or two.

Once the Content is processed, you will want to streamline your end users' reading experience using the Organize tool. From your MAZ Control dashboard, mouse over "Content" and select "Manage." After you've selected the app in question, click "Organize" to see a comprehensive spread of all the pages in the PDF.

The Organize tool serves a few important purposes:

  1. First, you can add individual Clippings Links for specific pages of your Content. This will allow you to change the Clippings URL and Clippings Text, effectively overriding the defaults you set in the Content's "Info" tab. You can do this by clicking on the scissors icon on whichever page you'd like.

  2. You will also want to set where the TOC and Page 1 of your Content are. The TOC, or Table of Contents, is where the end user can easily navigate to all the most important pages of your Content: a shortcut to the TOC is built into your app's navigation bar. Page 1 is where your Content's page count begins.

  3. Lastly, in extreme instances you may wish to reupload your Content using the Replace PDF button. Even then, you should only ever do this for minor changes like typos and 1-for-1 page swaps. All existing buttons and links are associated with current page numbering, and will remain so after you replace your PDF -- so drastic changes can get messy if you aren't careful. It is best to make sure that your new PDF does not have any pages added or deleted, as such changes will throw off the page numbering. Replacing the PDF for Content that is already live and for sale is the most complicated: future downloaders of the Content will get the replaced, updated edition, but any end users who have downloaded your Content before you change the PDF will still have the original (unless they delete their copy and download it afresh).
